Competing in one of his largest events of the year, Chris Garges won his age group in the 5k, 10k and Half Marathon over the weekend at the Runners World Half & Festival. Finishing with a total time of 2:14:19 for all three events, not only was Chris recognized as the top Masters finisher in the “Hat Trick” category, he placed 3rd overall out of 2216 participants. This was the second year in a row where Chris has placed 3rd overall in this combined category. New to the Runners World Half & Festival weekend this year was a 3.8 mile Trail Run event on the Friday prior to the 5k, 10k and Half Marathon. While Chris placed 3rd in the Trail Run event as well, he said the 3.8 mile course was felt for the entire weekend, adding an extra level of difficulty to each race.
The 13.1-mile Half Marathon course ran through Bethlehem’s historic neighborhoods, including some of the town’s original 1741 settlement, Moravian College, and the former Bethlehem Steel Complex, home to the turn of the century steel industry.
